A high percentage of the young children I see already have symptoms of jaw joint dysfunction. I find these symptoms often coincide with sleep apnea, snoring, stomach aches or upper respiratory symptoms, allergies, dyslexia, and coordination difficulties. Take a closer look at this video. It illustrates how a serious open bite, severely incorrect resting tongue posture and swallowing pattern can affect the TMJ, head and neck posture and ultimately the entire musculoskeletal and central nervous system. If you think you may have an upper airway resistance issue, contact your physician to get a full medical evaluation. In our practice, we recommend a team approach that includes an ENT specialist, cranial osteopathic physician, myofunctional therapist and a functional dentist.
